Happy Friday! Yes, yes, yes. Friday is casual day at my office, which usually means jeans, but I was feeling a dress today. Something casual, but still fun. In my quest for a cute outfit (quest meaning: “I’m running late, what is the first non-ugly thing in my line of sight?”) I remembered this dress, one of my summer favorites.
At first I thought pairing it with black was kind of funny, but the dark color in the fabric is actually black, so it works. I threw in a little brown though, just to soften it up a bit. This dress also gives me an excuse to wear my new Swedish Hasbeens before the snow falls (ugh, it is coming), so yay.

Dress: Vintage
Velvet blazer: Susana Monaco
Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens
Bag: Vintage Donney & Bourke
Scarf: Some crappy “pashmina” purchased in NY’s Chinatown my freshman year of college (I still wear this thing all the time)
This weekend I need to buy a few more things for my Halloween costume. I’m going as a 1990′s era raver – should be pretty awesome. I’ve already bought out the glow stick / neon hair sections at the Dollar Store, now I just need a few more things. This costume is also giving me the opportunity to wear bright pink fishnets. Yes. Here is my inspiration. Classy, I know.

What are you being for Halloween?

About sweetersalt
Salt = sodium = bad.
Sweet = calories = bad.
Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No.
This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things.
But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet.
Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking!
I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond.
It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.
Love it! I’m going as sushi… I just went to A.C. Moore to see what they have to help me with my wasabi and pickled ginger
I love the costume! I thought you were going as Katy Perry at first with the bright blue wig! I’m not dressing up this year.
Ha, if you wear those monster fur legwarmers, I’ll kiss your feet! And I am thinking of being a garden gnome…
HAHAHAHAHA!!! A candy raver! Brilliant! Oh my gosh, how much fun is that!
Anywho, I love this dress and that you paired it with black and brown. It looks fabulous, and the hasbeens are the icing on a perfect cake.
And I shall be Bob Dylan this year. I am way too crazy about costume perfection, and just received my English Beatle Boots from ebay. I kind of want to freak out about it.
Enjoy your weekend!

You look fabulous, I LOVE the dress and the shoes, and as for the costumes, I don’t know what I’m gonna wear, but most likely I would go as a pirate
ha ha ha
Wishing you a beautiful weekend
XOXO
