Friday’s Adorable Animal Round Up!

It’s Friday, and I am wearing a ho-hum outfit. I am not ready to post my recipe for Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Bread. What shall I discuss, might you ask? CUTE ANIMALS!

Here is my boy Franklin with “CeramiSam,” a little treasure we found at the Salvation Army and gave to my parents last year in honor of their pug, Sam.

Speaking of Sam, here he is picking an apple.

This one begs the question, “cute or sad?” My friend Jess from 365 Days of 27 sent me this heartbreaking article about a baby koala being shot. Very sad, but the little bugger is triumphing. Click here to read it.

I am truly a dog person in every way. However, I FREAKING LOVE MARU. If you have been living under a rock, Maru is a Japanese cat that does ridiculous things like jumping in and out of boxes, diving into cardboard tubes, and putting his head in bags. He is amazing. Watch his videos. Now.

Baby orangutans. Awesome. In college I had a giant, black and white poster of a baby orangutan’s face on my wall. Some people found it creepy (for obvious reasons, I am no longer friends with these people), but it made me happier than most material objects can. Unfortunately I can’t find a digital version of this poster, so this little guy will have to suffice.

As previously stated, I adore dogs. Love ‘em, can’t get enough of ‘em. For that reason, I love seals. They’re not called “sea dogs” for nothing. Look at that face! He looks like an aquatic puggle for goodness sake. In my previous job I could on occasion see seals in Portland Harbor out my office window. That was probably the only perk of the position.

Well folks, that’s all for now. If you have a cold heart and dislike adorable animals, I apologize for this post. Actually, that’s a lie, I don’t apologize. Go hug a puppy!

About sweetersalt

Salt = sodium = bad. Sweet = calories = bad. Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No. This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things. But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet. Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking! I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond. It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.

I love this post and I love animals. I get to hug puppies on Saturday and take one home with me! Pug puppies to be precise.

The orangutan is possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen. I have a similar story of a poster with a baby giraffe…some people just have cold hearts and cannot see the love.

hugging Lua right now!!! Great pic choices

and I’m going to need that recipe, soon. Will it be up so I can do some weekend baking??

  5. So quite! That baby koala made me want to cry!

And I am SO excited for Chai-spiced Pumpkin bread. That sounds beyond delicious.

Adorable animals are always a welcome distraction for when you don’t have outfit photos or recipes! Ummm the cat in the bag is hysterical.

  7. Joanne says:

I love cute animals! This is just as much eye candy as that chai bread would be. Seriously.

  8. Jess says:

I think Franklin really does need a friend. We debated for years before getting Mr. Pinkleton a friend and it was the best thing we ever did. Now we have Jasmine living with us and are officially cat people. Basically, it would make me feel better if you move towards becoming “dog people” so I don’t feel like an animal hoarder.

Please tell Ross that. I so desperately want a little pug sister for Franklin, she even has a name. In my heart she is Dolly, and I want her to be mine. He has told me that we could get another dog if some random one-eyed, three-legged or other such lowly pug presented itself. Know of any down-on-her-luck pugs that need a home?

  9. Jess says:

I don’t see why you can’t get a fully functional pug. I feel like even in their best physical shape, they are a force to be reckoned with mentally. I can’t imagine a disabled pug — it might be a real monster. You might want Ross to reconsider his demands… and get a 4 legged pug asap!

  10. I’ll take a post about adorable animals any day. Second choice, pumpkin bread. So thanks!
