In a fog

They say April showers bring May flowers, and May is just around the corner, so I have high hopes that all of this rain nonsense will pay off some time soon. Once May hits I’m expecting 70 degree days and nothing but sun. Sound good Mother Nature?

This top always makes me feel bright, happy, and of course, green. Actually, it is sort of “green” in that it was purchased on consignment, not new. For more information on how used clothing helps us all be a little greener, check out this Earth Day post on the SWAPmaine website.

Dark green trousers: Express
Green silk top: J.Crew
Tan cardigan: Forever 21
Nude flats: L.L.Bean Signature
Gold belt: vintage
Gold button earrings: vintage
Watch: Michael Kors

Have you ever thought to yourself “Oh I want “fill in the blank item” I’ll have to buy one!” then realize you actually own the item in question? I don’t usually, I typically have a pretty good inventory of my belongings, but I did have that thought last night. I’ve been seeing a lot of pretty shades of poppy nail polishes and started craving my own. But, what did I find in my big bag o’ polish last night? A perfectly good bottle of poppy-hued nail color! Problem solved – no additional purchase necessary. Love that. This is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Sonic Bloom. I get absolutely no endorsement from this company whatsoever, but I have to say, Sally is the best drugstore brand by far. Great colors, goes on smooth and dries fast. Yes.

What are your favorite nail colors for Spring and Summer? I’m loving this shade as well as opaque neutrals like Commander in Chic and Wet Clay.

About sweetersalt

Salt = sodium = bad. Sweet = calories = bad. Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No. This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things. But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet. Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking! I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond. It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.

Ohmygoodness, I’m the QUEEN of not-knowing-she-had-something-because-it-was-tucked-in-the-least-likely-place-possible. Every now and again I’ll sweep through the house ‘tidying’ and end up with a pile of nail polish, bobby pins, scotch tape, lip balm and nail clippers because apparently I just buy a new one of those every time I’m at Rite Aid instead of looking for the old one.

Love the green blouse against the foggy day – it pops! Do I see a St. Lawrence behind you? :)
