Yacht Club

Sometimes  (ok – all the time) I wish I was an eccentric wealthy woman living in the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s that enjoys frequenting her local yacht club. Odd? I often find myself gravitating toward nautical pieces like rope details, red and blue, anchors, boats, etc. That could be because I live in Maine, you can’t help but be inspired by your surroundings, but I also just find the aesthetic really fun.

Who wouldn’t want to look like these ladies?

Or wear this?

Or enjoy a nice day on the docks like these gentlemen?

Ok, maybe not the last one. Anywho, that was the mood I was feeling today, so I went with a little sailor-inspired top. I almost wore my anchor necklace but decided that it might be a bit much, considering I will most definitely not be sailing today.

Any fun plans this weekend? I’ll be at the Little Craft Studio Spring Fair in Freeport this Saturday. I’ll be selling vintage clothing, jewelry, accessories and accoutrement, as well as my handmade recycled t-shirt necklaces. If you’re around, stop by the Freeport Community Library (10 Library Drive, Freeport) from 9am – 3pm to check out all the goodies! There should be some awesome vendors – great place to check out for last minute Mother’s Day gifts.

Sunday the two mama’s (Ross’s and mine) are coming to town for a little lunch-a-roo. I’ve got some good stuff on the menu, so hopefully it all turns out well. Happy Mother’s Day!

About sweetersalt

Salt = sodium = bad. Sweet = calories = bad. Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No. This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things. But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet. Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking! I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond. It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.

I love it! I’ve always wanted to be a teenager in the 50s… In a soda shop. Possibly in a cardigan sweater and saddle shoes… and maybe sometimes a poodle skirt.
