As much as I love color, I’m not usually one to wear lots of bold colors all at once. My fear is that I’ll wind up looking like a clown or the Chiquita banana lady. I know this is silly, but it’s why I tend to stick to my basic formula of 2 neutrals + 1 color. However, this season’s color blocking trend is breaking me out of my color combining shell. I have to say, it is a lot of fun. Break out yer’ brights!
Gray trousers: H&M
Green top: thrifted
Orange cardigan: thrifted J.Crew
Brown obi belt: Gift from my parents’ trip to Italy
Tan flats: L.L.Bean Signature
Watch: Michael Kors
Ring: H&M
Bright colors also help me to stay content in my world filled with delusions. It has been so sunny out, the sky hasn’t been gray for weeks! Wow, are these 50* temps tropical! Those damp winds really do wonders for my hair!
Right, I’ll just continue to live in my pretend world filled with happy colors, sunshine, warm breezes and pug puppies. The pugs are just a bonus.

About sweetersalt
Salt = sodium = bad.
Sweet = calories = bad.
Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No.
This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things.
But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet.
Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking!
I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond.
It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.
Is that Ross’ grass growing behind you?
ha! it totally he is and he is so proud of it. he’s all like “look!!! it’s sprouting! everyone doubted me, but here it is, grass!” i think he feels really manly now.
i thrifted an identical top recently. i think i’ll copy you and pair it with orange!
I’m really loving the color blocking look… I need to buy more colorful pieces. Or just hire you to shop and plan my outfits for me.
Oooh, great look!
would you like to trade that obi belt for 90 degrees and humidity?! fair trade, i think
Great outfit! I love color blocking but am kind of scared to do it sometimes too… But it definitely makes a gloomy day a bit brighter
