What a perfect Memorial Day weekend! The weather could not have been more lovely on Sunday and Monday – it really feels like summer has arrived. If the temps dip back below 50 again and it starts raining I might lose my mind, especially after luxuriating in 80 degree sun all weekend.
On Sunday morning Ross and I headed off to the Arundel Antiques Market (thanks to Allie from Broke 207 for the tip!). I’m a sucker for a flea market, and this one did not disappoint. The market has two separate buildings and a huge spread of outdoor vendors. So many treasures, including some awesome vintage costume jewelry and this sweet little baby.
After trolling for antiques we drove to Kennebunkport for lunch. We wanted to go to the famous Clam Shack, which has some of the best fried clams in Maine, but the line was insane. It’s always super long, but with the holiday weekend it was just too much. So, we found another almost-as-tasty seafood shack and got some fried delights to go. We sat under a tree over looking the Kennebunk River and dug in (YUM!).
After lunch we decided to take an impromptu trip up to Lake Messalonskee to our friend Jess‘s lake house. We grabbed the pup and hit the road, just in time for some lake-side, hot tub fun. Despite super crazy thunder storms during the night (that sent Franklin into a tail spin of terror) Monday was a glorious summer day.
Since it was so nice, we couldn’t resist blowing up the brand new “Caribbean Island Personal Floating Oasis” (love the name). After several failed attempts at inflating the silly thing we finally got it up and ready for some leisure floating.
The photo is blurry, but I think it still communicates just how awesome this thing is. I want to live there. The next step is setting up an elaborate pulley system to allow delivery of drinks and snacks without leaving the island oasis. Next time.
I hope everyone enjoyed some good times and hot weather this weekend! Yay summer!
