Bloggymoon

So… I’m getting married on Saturday. I know – crazy! The next few days should be super busy, but awesome. I’m beyond excited, and I know how incredibly lucky I am to be marrying the only person in the world for me. I know, cheese ball moment, but it’s true. Ross is my person, what can I say. Lucky girl, right here.

After the wedding we’re jetting off on our honeymoon, which I can’t wait for. It has long been a dream of mine to fly to San Francisco and make our way north all the way to Seattle. So, that’s what we’re doing. We’ll be hanging in San Fran, stopping in wine country and the red woods, going to Crater Lake National Park, hitting up Portland, OR and finally Seattle. For those of you familiar with these spots – any tips?

Since I’ll be busy getting hitched and traveling I’m not sure what my blogging schedule will look like. So, I’m not really sure when I’ll post next – hopefully once or twice in the next few weeks. I’ll be sure to post some of the wedding and honeymoon pics soon enough, but, until then, enjoy your summer. I’ll be back!

About sweetersalt

Salt = sodium = bad. Sweet = calories = bad. Well, isn't that just a bleak outlook. I firmly believe that without salt and without sweet we all just live in a world of lettuce. Plain lettuce. Fun? No. This blog is about life. Namely, my life. But, not that specific. I myself am simply not that interesting. I live an ordinary life, work an ordinary job and do ordinary things. But... life is all about experiencing that feeling you get when you really, really like something. If you don't feel a little warm in your heart when you walk into a farmer's market or try on a piece of beautiful clothing that fits you perfectly (that just so happens to be a great deal!) then you should probably keep on a' movin' from my little plot of internet. Sweeter salt is my metaphor for the good things in life, sprinkled over everything in moderation. Banana? Kinda boring. Banana smoothie - yum! White tank top? Yawn. Statement necklace layered over said tank - now we're talking! I live in Portland, Maine. I love cooking, eating out, riding my bike and approachable fashion. This blog does not chronicle my every waking moment. This is because you will probably not be entertained by the 10th day in a row that I eat the exact same salad for lunch. It does chronicle a healthy, active, fun-filled, colorful lifestyle, in Portland and beyond. It also covers dogs. Cute ones mostly.

Congratulations and have fun during both your wedding and honeymoon!! I LOVE Seattle! My favorite place in Seattle is a little bakery across from the Pike Place Market called The Crumpet Shop. A crumpet topped with cream cheese and rasberry jam accompanied by a cup of tea is truly a thing of beauty. :)
A couple of great places I’ve eaten in Seattle are Le Pichet and Cafe Campagne.

My other tip would be that since you are driving through Oregon, you should try to check out the Willamette (pronounced Will-Am-It) Valley Wine Region if you like Pinot Noirs at all. They are so good! Their Pinot Gris whites are also pretty tasty.
If you like mushrooms, you should check out the Joel Palmer House. Almost everything they make includes wild foraged mushrooms (even dessert!) and everything is amazing there.

Oh, congratulations! I’m sure your wedding day and your honeymoon trip will be amazing. Looking forward to seeing photos! However will you pack for such a trip…

    * A little side note: Since becoming a reader of your blog, I have become increasingly obsessed with your Dansko Sissy sandals. This past week, due to a successful ebay bid, I became the proud owner of these adorable shoes (also in sandpiper). So I just wanted to say thanks for turning me onto these babies!

  7. Sounds like a fun honeymoon, take lots of pictures. Congrats!

  8. Many congratulations and HAVE FUN! San Fran is my favorite on your list :) There are so many fun things to do there it’s hard to say which ones are best! I like just walking on the boardwalk and of course, while it isn’t romantic, going to Alcatraz. I am a history nerd so that was really something awesome to check out. San Fran is really something though.
You’ll have a great time no matter where you go! :) :)

That part of the coastline is gorgeous, so I doubt you will run out of neat places to visit. Have SOMUCHFUN!!
    Congratulations!

Enjoy it! We went horseback riding up north of San Francisco in the hills up there… can’t remember the specific town but those rolling hills are gorrrrgeous. Congratulations to both of you!

When you’re in Wine Country, check out Viansa for a HUGE selection of wines to taste as well as gorgeous views from their patio. If you’re into hearty red wines, don’t miss Ravenswood. And be sure to check out some of the smaller wineries (Cakebread is good if they’re tasting that day) if you want one-on-one time talking about wine.

And eat plenty in San Francisco. Try at least one cuisine you’ve never tried before. If Hellmand is still open, in North Beach on Broadway, they’ve got AMAZING Afghani food. And Aziza on Geary out toward the ocean for Morroccan, and burritos in the Mission, and Yank Sing for dim sum … (I lived there for 13 years, and miss the food like crazy!)

Congratulations and have an AWESOME wedding!! Can’t wait to hear about it :) :)

Hi!! I’ve been reading your blog for a little while now and LOVE it. I have a small obsession with Portland – one of the most beautiful, charming towns I’ve ever been to. My husband and I talk about moving there…someday. We currently reside in San Francisco.
Congratulations on getting married and have such an amazing time on your honeymoon. Try lots of good food and if you can – I echo Tara’s tip on going to Aziza. Such a great restaurant! There are so many great places here it would be impossible to name them all.
*One tip on Wine Country: try to avoid Napa for actual wine tasting. Drive through, grab a bite to eat, etc. but head to Sonoma or Healdsburg for the tastings. Napa has started charging ridiculous prices for tastings when you can get great wine (if not better) in the Alexander & Dry Creek Valleys for much less (or free) prices.
Can’t wait to see and hear all about your wedding and honeymoon when you are back!
