On Saturday Ross and I trucked off to Maxwell’s Strawberry Farm in Cape Elizabeth for our annual day of picking. Here we are in 2010 and 2011, oh how predictable. Speaking of 2011, you will note at the end of the post how I stained my white t-shirt, then remarked that I should have worn black. WELL! I learned my lesson for once.

picking berries / stealing berries
So far with my beautiful bounty of berries (yep, I said it) I’ve made strawberry jam with honey, strawberry rhubarb crisp (using the rhubarb from my backyard), and frozen some. I still have quite a lot left so I’ll probably wind up freezing more. Love those local berries come winter.
Do you go strawberry picking? Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits, so I love going picking every year. I’m looking forward to the Strawberry Festival this weekend, we’re going to the lobster bake on Friday night. Lobster + strawberries? OK!
